Who is responsible
The data controller for this site is Michael N. Jensen. Contact: site@myip.dk. This policy explains what is processed when you visit myip.dk or use its tools and API, and why.
Visiting the site
Loading the site and running connection checks exposes your IP address and normal request information to our content delivery network and origin infrastructure. The infrastructure can process request logs for service operation and security. This site does not promise anonymous or log-free access. Request logs are used only to operate and protect the service and are deleted when they are no longer needed for that purpose.
Our content delivery network measures page visits and loading performance with a small script. It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and does not fingerprint or follow individual visitors. It records the page path, the referring site, loading times, and general browser, device, and country information; query strings are not recorded. These aggregate statistics are kept for up to six months.
What each tool sends
| Feature | Data sent | Where it goes |
|---|---|---|
| Public IP / connection check | Your browser’s connection metadata | Our content delivery network and the myip.dk origin |
| Visitor statistics | Page path, referring site, loading times, and general browser, device, and country information | Our content delivery network, as aggregate statistics kept for up to six months |
| IP lookup | The IP address you enter | Our server, the regional registry selected through IANA, and Cloudflare DNS for PTR. |
| DNS lookup | The DNS name or PTR address and record type | Our server and your selected resolver: Cloudflare or Google |
| Email DNS check | The domain and optional DKIM selector | Our server and Cloudflare DNS |
| Browser information | One request whose headers are echoed back; device details are not transmitted | Our server; everything else stays in your browser |
| IP converter | No input is transmitted | Calculated in your browser |
| Subnet calculator | No calculator input is transmitted | Calculated in your browser |
| Connection history / router WAN comparison | Normal connection checks; entered WAN values are not transmitted | History, baselines, and entered WAN values stay in browser memory until you leave or reload |
Our content delivery network may apply its own service and security behavior. External providers handle requests under their own policies; avoid putting confidential names into a public DNS lookup.
Advertising and cookies
myip.dk is free to use and is funded by advertising from Google AdSense. The tools work the same whether or not ads load.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google’s Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland are asked for consent through Google’s consent message before cookies are used for personalised ads. Without consent, Google may still show non-personalised or limited ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, aggregated reporting, and preventing fraud. You can change your choice at any time with the “Privacy and cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page.
Google processes this information under its own policies. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services, and how Google uses cookies in advertising.
The application itself sets no cookies and makes no third-party font requests. A language chosen in the menu is remembered in this browser’s local storage.
Legal basis and recipients
Request logs, security measures, and aggregate visitor statistics are based on our legitimate interest in running a reliable and secure website (GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Lookups are carried out because you ask for them. Advertising cookies and personalised ads are based on your consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you can withdraw at any time.
Data is shared only with the providers needed to deliver the service: our content delivery network and hosting provider, Google for advertising, and the lookup providers listed above. Some of them process data outside the EU/EEA, under safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. We do not sell personal data.
For additional information, see Cloudflare’s privacy policy, Google Public DNS privacy information, and RIPE NCC’s privacy statement.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, and delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because we do not link requests to a name or an account, we may ask for details such as the address and time of a visit to find the data concerned. Write to site@myip.dk.
You can also complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
myip.dk is a general-audience technical site and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
